I went to go see my first TTS show of the year this weekend. I got to see the romantic and saddening production of Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England . This production featured a fantastic ensemble of six actors. Each one of them should feel accomplished and proud of what they put on. Hello my friends! Welcome back to Acting in The Groove! My name is Ryan Hebert and I am so glad you are reading my post today! So if you already know me and have been keeping up with my recent activity, I am a current student at DePaul University, and I am almost done with my first quarter. First off, I never knew college could be so exciting. You never know what can happen. From chilling in your room one night, to being at a party the next. It is honestly insane how quickly stuff can change. The experiences i've had with my friends here are one's I will remember forever. I'd really love to share one of those fun experiences with you all today. It was a mild night in Chicago. About 8:30-9pm on a Sunday night. I walk down a street with some of my friends, near the DePaul campus, but off campus for sure. My Friends , I have returned. I have come back from the long 5 week voyage; with knowledge, passion and great memories. As you may currently know I was just away for 5 weeks at the Walnut Hill School for The Arts Summer Theatre program. In which I took classes on Dancing, Singing and Acting, and I was in 3 different productions at the same time. 2 musicals and 1 play. The summer program was a summer intensive program. The camp challenged an amateur actor such as myself to go to places, places that some people were even scared to go too. Some cried, some laughed. Most smiled and others frowned. Overall the summer program was amazing. The Productions I took part in were, Sweet Charity , Thoroughly Modern Millie , and a play called Gizmo. The musicals both had some rigorous dancing and great singing. The 1920's for Millie and the 1960's for Charity were the settings for the shows. Each show had its own unique style to it. Today, Tonight I should say, I went to the Concord Carlisle's girls soccer game versus some other team.. Anyways the point is that as I was there I walked past a girl I knew and she tried to high-five me. Me not realizing that she was trying to do that; she brushed her hand against the side of my sweatshirt. After 2 seconds I realize that she has trying to high five me. FAIL to me. I was kind of embarrassed at this, but we all move on right? Besides that incident, not to much happened to me today, except hanging with my bestest friend Jeremy! We Played the best WII game known to man, SUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAWL!!!!!!!!!! - It was a nice game :) . So we played that for a while and had fun, but the closest thing I did for theatre today was singing all the words my friend was singing. Hey y'all it's Ryan and today I was by myself, wandering afterschool what to do until, I stumble upon my friends Sarah and Lily. Both good friends of mine, and all of us being obsessed in acting. They are both in the fall play, and yours truly did not try out. So whatever you do, stop reading, say some curse word at me then continue reading this. Once you have cursed at me we will get back to the story. So I find lily and Sarah in the auditorium and Sarah is dancing the audition piece for our winter musical, A chorus line. Now I wander in, and am invited to practice the dance onstage. Of course being in the shape that I am, I am not able to dance well, or at all. I get a little bit of it, but it's a challenging dance. Anyways I give up in the 1st five minutes of practicing and just start acting and singing to 70's disco music. This was not funny to others so I stopped right away.
